Workers put down tools

This morning Msibi is expected to have a private meeting with the workers where he will elaborate further on their grievances.

BARBERTON – Angry municipal workers have downed their tools. This comes after the Umjindi Local Municipality’s employees demanded a progress report from management regarding the bonuses and shifts allowances, which they raised a year ago.

According to some employees, they embarked on a go slow regarding the similar issue on Monday, until they were addressed by the municipal manager, Mr Pat Msibi.

This morning Msibi  and the executive mayor Cllr Lazarus Mashaba  are  expected to have a private meeting with the workers where they will elaborate further on their grievances.

The municipal spokesperson, Mr Samuel Jele was unavailable for comment as his phone went unanswered.
