LYDENBURG – A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of his ex girlfriend’s mother.
The suspect made his brief court appearance before the Lydenburg Magistrate’s Court on January 22, 2016, for killing the mother of his ex-girlfriend.
The incident occurred on January 21 at approximately 05:00, at Badfontein Farm outside Lydenburg.
“Information at police disposal reveals that the suspect was allegedly served with a protection order which was obtained by his ex-girlfriend against him on the previous week prior to the incident. He apparently attacked the 51-year-old the mother of his ex girlfriend, was on her way to work. He supposedly strangled and fatally beat her with a pick handle. It is further alleged that the suspect took the victim’s cellphone and called the ex-girlfriend informing her that he had killed her mother and she is next,” explained Sgt Gerald Sedibe.
The suspect is currently facing a charge of murder.
