No leads yet regarding bodies

He explained that a partially decomposed body of a 39-year-old female was found at a farm in Karino on the outskirts of Mbombela on Friday.

MBOMBELA – No arrests have been made yet after the discovery of two women’s bodies in different incidents last week.

“We have not made any arrests so far and are still waiting for the post-mortem results to determine the causes of their death,” explained Sgt Gerald Sedibe, spokesperson for the police.

He explained that a partially decomposed body of a 39-year-old female was found at a farm in Karino on the outskirts of Mbombela on Friday.

“Her body was spotted by a farm employee who summoned police. Upon arrival they found the body covered with branches. We also discovered that the victim had been reported missing the previous weekend,” explained Sedibe.

He added that the second body was of a half-naked woman estimated to be in her early 30s.

This was spotted by a passer-by in the bush near Alroe Park right next to the SABC studio in Mbombela.
“She had stab wounds to her neck and stomach. We are still waiting for the post-mortem results and call on anyone who can help us locate her next of kin to come forward,” he said.

This newspaper learnt that the second victim was apparently one of the sex workers who traded around town.
“Her friends described her as the sis who loves wearing knee-height boots,” said a source who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The police are appealing to any person with information to contact Lt Col Erhard Stroh on 082-303-9658.
