Five men arrested after three-year-old went missing
Five men have been arrested by the local police after the disappearance of a 3 year old child from Mgobodzi.
MGOBODZI – The missing child disappeared on November 29, 2015 and has not been found since then.
The child’s uncle who goes by his surname Maziya, who is also a well-known Jericho church member, Sgodvo from Schoemansdal and another Jericho member known to the community as Jabulani “Mjeb” Ndlovu were among the suspects who were arrested and they have all appeared in court for the charges.
In a statement by the local police, one of the suspects confessed to the kidnapping of the child, according to the police they were aiming to kill the child for muti but nothing has been confirmed yet and the remains of the child have not been found to confirm the suspect’s confession.
Angry community members were protesting outside court asking for the authorities to release the suspects so they can deal with them. They promised to kill the suspects if they were be released on bail.
The bail application for the suspects was postponed to Thursday, January 14, at the Tonga Magistrate court.
The police have requested anyone with information regarding the disappearance of the child to report the matter to Tonga police station.
