MBOMBELA – A total of 37 babies were born today, Christmas Day in the province.

This was announced by MEC for health, Mr Gillion Mashego at the Rob Ferreira hospital where three girls and one boy were born.

They were born from their mothers Martha Msimangu, Single Shongwe , Nomvula Manama and  Zizwe Mkhonto, respectively.

Mashego said: “I’m happy that these bababies were born at a much cleaner Rob Ferreira which has been in the news for many challenges that faced it. We have turned the corner as Mpumalanga as all the challenges that plagued this hospital, have been rectified. Even the head of maternity is a male and we are sure to decrease martenal deaths at this hospital.

“Of the 37 new babies, 21 are males and 16 females. One important thing is, let’s not drink and drive during this festive season because accidents cause broken bones which gives us a challenge in the orthopedic section, as we find others to attract specialist to fix bones. I’m also glad that in my campaigns on taking primary health to people at malls, elders and the youth queued in testing and counselling, a good sign that we are winning the war against HIV/Aids,” he ended.
