MBOMBELA- The Mbombela Local Municipality would inform all water users that abstraction restrictions are being implemented as the Crocodile has stopped flowing further downstream.
These restrictions will apply to all municipal abstractions from the Crocodile River such as Mbombela, White River, KaNyamazane, Malalane and Komatipoort.
“We appeal to users to stop the irrigation of gardens within their areas. This includes private home owners from watering their gardens. As municipalities in these catchment areas ourselves, we will ensure that we stop watering of municipal open grounds and gardens. This will be until further notice,” says Joseph Ngala spokesperson for the municipality.

“The reason for these restrictions is to enable the flow in the Crocodile River to reach the Mozambican border as it has currently stopped flowing. This is required to meet the domestic needs downstream, our international obligations and the environmental sustainability of the Crocodile River,”he said.
