Gogo reaps blessings of Madiba’s legacy

The Speaker of the legislature, Ms Thandi Shongwe and her team dedicated the whole weekend to Nkomazi as their Mandela Day offering.

LANGELOOP – They started by rebuilding the house of a certain Gogo Sarah Malale, who had her house burnt down by her grandson last month, before going to KaMhlushwa Stadium for the Speaker’s Cup, where local teams and taxi drivers were competing on the soccer pitch.

It might have seemed like a 67-minute service to the Speaker and her entourage, but to the 72-year-old Gogo Sarah, it was an answer from God to her endless prayers. It was an unbelievable miracle, when Shongwe herself, initiated the rebuilding and refurbishing of the house.

“We heard about the ordeal, and we found it befitting to spend our Mandela Day here. We are starting all over and roofing the house, refurbishing the walls, and bringing hope again into her heart. It’s the least we can do,” said Shongwe.

She was joined not only by her team, but also by the local ANC branches, Bushbuckridge Residents Association (BRA) leader and member of the provincial legislature, Mr Cleopas Maunye, and local businessman, Mr Saleem Patel.

“We support such initiatives, where our people will benefit and enjoy living in Mpumalanga. This is a legislature initiative, and I saw it befitting for me to avail myself in support of it,” said Maunye.

Gogo Sarah expressed her gratitude to the Speaker and her team, saying she had been praying all the time for God to send her angels to get her out of her misery since the incident.

“It’s one of those nights I will never forget, my own grandson burnt my house down and intended to burn me down with it, just because he wanted food at 01:00. It’s still unbelievable.

I’m very grateful to Thandi Shongwe and her team, the God that I serve will surely bless them in abundance,” said Gogo Sarah.
