It is often said medically if you don’t show any signs of life, your pulse is often examined – it is for this very reason why Pulse Events & Designs rightly examined the local entertainment arena and it was diagnosed that it needed a rare treatment dubbed: “Imbokodo Queens Concert” featuring exclusively women entertainers of note and exclusively driven by women, too.

That’s how the first annual Imbokodo Queens Concert was conceived which seeks to rightly commemorate the historic march by women of all races in 1956 to the Union Buildings in Prertoria.

On homesoil the event will be celebrated in style, on Women’s Day, August 9 with an incredible all-women line-up of artists featuring none other than Afro-jazz great in Naima Kay, who, during her debut album offering, instantly won herself the Sama as the best newcomer, a great feat for a new artist on the highly competitive South Africa an music scene.

Kay won’t be alone on that stage as she will be accompanied by three-time Crown Gospel Best Album Award winner, Ntokozo Mbambo who will prove to all and sundry that she is the undisputed best gospel entertainer in the southern hemisphere.

From the local front there will be SA Idols 2014 runner-up, Bongi, who is sure to bring along her power-packed voice as she will belt out some of her new material that Lowvelders will have the privilege of listening and dancing to.

Opening act for the evening will be none other than local laws, Vero 6 who will set the pace for what will turn out to be an unforgettable night of five-star entertainment.

“As this will be the inaugural entertainment-filled Women’s Day commemorations, we aim to give revellers the best.

Imbokodo Queens Concert is a mega event that will rally the society to champion women and girls. Come repared to be entertained and to enjoy the ultimate experience of being a positive and powerful force for social change.

“As can be deduced from our line-up, they will provide entertainment and attract numbers of our young adult and adult target market. We intend to host this event annually, all of us united and working together is the great hope for the future.

“The end result will be greatly increased awareness, impact and funding for women and girls in society, to achieve the goal for universal education, end to violence and equality for women and girls,” says Pulse Events & Designs creative director, Phumlani Mdluli.

It will be a quality, state-of-the-art event; promote the province as a green destination of choice; create a new way of thinking that reshapes the value of women and girls; to serve the community by promoting positive ideals and urging social responsibility and education.

“As an added bonus on the night, we have secured the services of the SABC’s Lerato Kganyago who will be the master of ceremonies.

“For the party boppers, we have organised an after-party event immediately after the main show featuring two local lasses on decks, DJ Zanmaya and DJ Ntombenhle to wrap up the evening on a very high note,” ended Mdluli.
