" I have to closed the shop because there’s no electricity.“

BARBERTON – Local business people in this area were affected yesterday due to load shedding.

Mpumalanga News learnt that busy stores were closed in the township and in town from 07.00 until 17.00. One of the local businessmen who was also affected by the load shedding, Mr Kamburan Mahomed said:

“I am frustrated because I make lot of money on weekends. People come in numbers here to buy peri-peri chips, especially in the morning. So now I have to closed the shop because there’s no electricity.“

The power cuts don’t affect business people only, even ordinary people were affected as it came as a surprise to many residents.

”This is not fair, we were not told that there is going to be a load shedding. I was shocked when I opened my fridge and it was dark. I thought maybe there’s something wrong with the bulb light, but when I tried to turn on my TV, it was clear that it was load shedding,“ said Samkelisiwe Ngobeni.

She went on and stated that the Umjindi Local Municipality was supposed to inform the community on Saturday so that residents should have been aware.

”They used to informed if there was going to be a load shedding, but this time around they didn’t bother. I don’t know what I am going to give my children because I did even get a chance to cook for lunch,“ she concluded.
