Nurses celebrated

Nurses encouraged to hold their noble profession with high esteem and continue to work ethically, professionally and to remember the pledge they signed everyday .

MBOMBELA- The MEC for health in Mpumalanga Mr Gillion Mashego saluted the nurses of the country for their hard work and determination in often difficult circumstances.

“We encourage them to continue to hold the profession in high esteem and continue to work ethically and professionally and to remember the pledge they signed everyday they practice their noble profession,” said Mashego.

He is also expected to address thousands of nurses from various sectors to attend the International Nurses Day’s celebration in Ermelo, Gert Sibande today.

Mpumalanga News also learnt that other clinics and hospital will also hold different ceremonies today and tomorrow at their respective places of work.

Mbombela Kiaat Private Hospital will held a ceremony today while the Community Health Centre (CHC) Nelspruit will have a prayer session for nurses’ tomorrow morning starting at 07:45.

“We invite pastors to come in their numbers to pray for our nurses, encourage them and motivate them to continue with the good work of taking care of the sick people from our communities,” explained Ms Rhoda Nkosi the community liaison officer at CHC.

The International Nurses Day is celebrated worldwide on May 12, it has been celebrated since 1965 by the International Council of Nurses and it coincides with the birthdate of Florence Nightingale who is generally known as the founder of nursing.
