WHITE RIVER – Being a millionaire is everyone’s dream and this is reality to the
artistic of White River who is the latest lucky millionaire
winner.
Self-employed Mr Sipho Masina (38) who hails around White River, is
the 41st winner of the million rand prize in the eight years of the SABC TV game
show Vodadacom’s Millionaire lucky draw.
“I didn’t believe the caller at
first when a Vodacom rep called me last week Tuesday (October 15) at 18:30 to
say I was the winner, this was the same day I SMSed my lucky letters,” said
Masina.
He said he sent four SMSs on the day.
“I have 16 sets of SMSs in
my phone, I usually send all of them, but on that day I kept on resending the
last three sets and hence they got me a free R12 airtime and the million rand,”
he said after receiving his cheque from Ms Louisa Van Wyk at the Vodacom offices
in Nelspruit on Monday.
Masina had been an entrepreneur at heart and had
earned his living through selling rocks and wooden sculptures as well as woven
baskets near the road side in town.
On the day he won, he thought he had
already had a great day after selling one of his sculptures for a R1 000 and
didn’t think the day would get any better, but a few hours later, he hit the
jackpot by winning a million rand.
Masina said he plans to use the money to
help boost his business in order to create a stable and successful future for
himself and his child as well as those close to him.
“I’ll buy a TLB truck
and start a stone crushing business through which I hope to create business
opportunities for many, help in the fight against unemployment and alleviate
poverty,” he said.
Vodacom’s managing executive for Mpumalanga, Ms Louisa van
Beek said her company is thrilled to be able to change another person’s life in
the province.
“Our latest winner is truly inspirational as he will use this
money to grow his business and help uplift his family and others. We hope Sipho
will keep on flying the Vodacom flag high,” she said.
