Murder accused unfit to stand trial

MGANDUZWENI – A woman who hanged her cousin’s three-year-old daughter, was declared unfit to stand trial by the Pretoria Circuit of the High Court in Nelspruit on Monday.

It is alleged that on on May 7, 2012, the accused took the life of her cousin’s baby girl by hanging her on a pole with a pantyhose in bushes at the village. The body of the deceased was discovered the following day.

Information from the charge sheet states the cause of death as anoxia due to hanging.

In another case, the court date for a father who allegedly abused his daughter sexually, impregnated her and forced her to terminate the pregnancies several times, has been postponed to February 28 next year.

The accused remained in custody.
