The battle of the beauties is on

The question on many lips is: which way is the crown headed?

When the clock strikes 19:00 on Saturday, the beauties will vie for honours, this time it is not a boxing ring, but the ramp at the Emnotweni Arena, come Saturday.

Mind you, the red lights are already flashing as tickets have been sold out for the event.

If you missed out on buying your ticket earlier, they won’t even be available at the door because the venue is limited, a warning from the organisers, Mzimari Productions and sponsors, the Mpumalanga Gambling Board (MGB).

It will be the battle of beauties drawn from the three districts of Ehlanzeni, Nkangala and Gert Sibande.

The question on many lips is: which way is the crown headed?

Is it Ehlanzeni for the third in its five-year history or is it Nkangala who held it once or is it Gert Sibande who also held it once?

Your guess is as good as mine because what counts from the judges’ perspective is beauty, intelligence, knowledge about issues concerning the province, country and the world in general.

The crown is there for the taking. Only the bravest girl will walk away with the crown during this star-studded line-up full of celebrities that will add spice to an event of this magnitude that has drawn the who is who from all corners of the province and beyond, as this event has turned out to be a calendar event annually.

The spectacular event will be hosted by a daughter of the soil, originally from Mbombela and has made waves in the entertainment and television industry in none other than Kedibone Mkhabela, who will partner with one of the most famous and internationally reputable presenter in T-Touch from Metro FM – tomorrow he will be broadcasting his show live from Mbombela.

As if that was not enough, music entertainment will be catered for Metro FM Music Awards multi-award winning star originally from this province, Afrotraction and there will also be multiple Metro FM nominee, KO, also a nationally renowned artist and originally from the province.

As can be deduced from the above, it is all homegrown artists except for T-Touch, a direct reflection that Mpumalanga has produced reputable stars of note.

Highlights of the show will also be when the three former queens in Mpumi Lephoko (2011), Lungile Libambo (2012), Ntandoyenkosi Kunene (2013) and the current queen, Natasha Dos Santos grace the stage to share their experience and growth as former queens – a component of young women’s development that the pageant has turned  out to be.

“The moment that all have been waiting for, has finally arrived.

The 12 finalists are already in town and they have been groomed very well. All is in place and ready for Saturday, but the big test is today as there is a prejudging event behind closed doors as the judges will finally select their favourites.

“I’m crossing my fingers that I get the right calibre of queen who will be compatible with the objectives of this pageant and be a worthy ambassador for MGB and the province as a whole. May the best girl win,” said Mzimari CEO, Gugu Nyarenda.
