Amazayoni ready to baptize Sundowns

After last night’s gruelling battle between Mpumalanga Black Aces and Mamelodi Sundowns in the Absa Premiership encounter, these two teams will face off once again this Sunday.

These two meet in the quarter finals of the Nedbank Cup scheduled for 15:00 at the Mbombela Stadium.

Since the start of this competition, Aces had been enjoying home advantage which had been rewarding too.

Here, they managed to beat their hoodoo team, Maritzburg United in the last 32 and went on to beat Jomo Cosmos to advance to the quarter finals.

The Mbombela Stadium has certainly proven to be a happy hunting venue for Amazayoni in this competition and the home team believes lady luck could be favouring them again.

“Experience has taught us that there are no small and big teams in the PSL. Like I have said before that Aces are no pushovers and I can guarantee you that we will give it our all.

“We have a good track-record in this competition and we would like to continue by going all the way and maybe lifting the trophy this time around,” said Gordon Masondo, Aces spokesperson.

He promised soccer supporters entertaining football from his side.
On the other hand, the Pretoria-based side, Sundowns had to go past Thanda Royal Zulu and Platinum Stars to reach the quarter finals.

They have been on fire since the beginning of the second round of the Absa Premiership and could prove a handful for the home team on Sunday.

They come to this clash already hot favourites bacause of their Nedbank success, but this competition is famous for its upsets.

Aces and Sundowns have a brief history in this competition, having last met in the 2008 finals where the latter recorded a hard-fought 1-0 victory to lift the trophy.

If there is one cup competition Aces have excelled in, it is the Nedbank Cup.

In 2010 Aces reached the quarter finals and went all the way to the semi-finals in 2011.
