PIENAAR – A 37-year-old stepfather will spend the rest of his life in jail after he was found guilty of using his minor daughters as sex slaves.
The Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court sentenced the man to life and registered him on the South African sexual offenders register.
He was found guilty of raping his two stepdaughters, aged five and 13, in 2011.
He visited the children every morning in their bedroom. He told the victims not to tell their mother and promised them sweets.
A concerned neighbour became suspicious.The neighbour approached the wife.
The five-year-old victim told them what had happened.
The wife alerted the police and he was arrested.
Sgt Jabu Ndubane, spokesperson of the local police station said the case was not easy because the children were victimised by the rapist as they were very scared.
