Sanral fixed problematic road

The agency apologises for any inconvenience that might have occurred during the construction period.

MBOMBELA- The Eileen Street intersection at the entrance to Jackaroo Park, eMalahleni has been repaired, the South African National Roads Agency Limited (Sanral) has said.

The residents of the area have complained about the degraded condition of the road they use every day. They reported that after recent heavy rains the layer that covered the gravel road had been washed away.

Sanral route manager, Mr Obed Monare said, “On January 24 the contractor fixed the base at Eileen Street and put a coat of bitumen on it. The sealing was completed and the contractor is busy with pre-markings. The work on the T-junction is continuing with all the plants on site. We are planning to start with the road surface soon.”

Once upgraded, the road will be used as an alternative route for heavy vehicles. The remainder of the road will be rehabilitated by improving the drainage system.
