Duo gets them dancing

Parties and dancefloors in the city have been beefed up, and there’s a duo that takes credit for that. AfroTellus finds absolute pleasure in spinning the decks. Broken down as DJ Afro (Ndumiso Nkosi) and DJ Tellus (Mfundo Mhlabane), the two say they were brought together by fate.

“We met during the DJ Competition hosted by Ligwalagwala FM and were both finalists. A slot on the afternoon drive was created for each of us. Afro is more into tribal house, and I do the deep one. We decided to pair up, and magic was created. We have not looked back since then,” says Tellus.

According to Afro, their unique genre is an aftermath of infusing the two genres of house music. “We call it ‘titsako’, meaning spices. We have spiced up the genre in a very interesting way. We only play on two sets, and wherever we are, people love us a great deal.”

The two local DJs say it has been an incredible journey of finding their feet and the next step is to fly.

“We have played almost the whole of Mpumalanga, although we don’t want to pressure ourselves.
One will agree with them when they say destiny takes the credit for them meeting and working together.

They hit the ground running as they now have a slot on Ligwalagwala FM on Saturdays from 00:00 to 03:00 called Akulalwa.
