Load shedding-a nasty inconvenience

With load shedding escalated to stage three,Saturday shopping became a nightmare for customers at Ilanga Mall.

MBOMBELA – The public is undoubtedly feeling the load shedding pinch.

With load shedding escalated to stage three, Saturday shopping became a nightmare for customers at Ilanga Mall this morning.

“It’s my birthday today and my family decided to spoil me by taking me out for breakfast only to find that the mall is completely dark.

These power cuts are completely getting out of hand,” an unhappy Nelspruit resident told Mpumalanga News.

Another disgruntled Kabokweni said, “I took a taxi to the mall because I had urgent errands to run but now I have to run around and look for an alternative place to do what I want to do.”

On Wednesday Eskom implemented Stage 3 load-shedding and indicated that they will only maintain this stage for as long as absolutely necessary.

The power utility says this is because of multiple trips in some of its generating units.

Once more Eskom urged electricity users to switch off non-essential appliances, pool pumps and geysers throughout the day.

We asked some of our readers how these power cuts have affected them and this is what they had to say:

Pearl Magagula: My cousin lost R1000 in her business because of load shedding. What about our safety? We come from work late and the streets are dark. Who knows what will happen in that darkness. What about our children, when are they supposed to study since there’s no power.

Graty Mabuza: I Need to work on my laptop but the battery is flat and I have an urgent report submission tomorrow. I am so frustrated!

Muzi Dladla, It affects us a lot because they switch the power for quiet long than before and it also affects cell phones network.
