Planned electrical maintenance on R40

The whole technical department will be pulling sources to ensure that the work is being done professionally and to the least inconvenience of the public and businesses.

MBOMBELA – The Mbombela Local Municipality’s Electrical Unit has urged  businesses and the community to exercise caution during  the planned electrical maintenance work that will start today on the R40 Between Tiger Wheel(Prime corner) and BP garage (River Side turn off to Lydenburg {R37}).

“We will be closing the 2 inner lanes for safety purposes at least for a month, January 19 – February 19,” stated the notice.

These lights are reportedly not working due to cable theft.The area includes the BP Garage (Riverside Industrial) past the Show Grounds to Prime Corner and this would not affect Riverside Park directly.

The public has also been urged to be tolerant towards the workers.

The project will include, restoring the streetlights where each section will be energised day and night to ensure cabling is correct and to minimize other problems for at least a week.

“We will be making it safer to drive at night and we will be making it more difficult to steel the cabling. We will also be repairing the island properly,” the notice further stated.
