Cards are on to make Miss Mpumalanga Teen an annual affair

On Saturday history was made when the first-ever Miss Mpumalanga Teen was held at Casambo Exclusive Guest Lodge.

MBOMBELA – Many have dubbed 2015 a year of new beginnings and as much as this sound like a cliché, Kedithapelo PTY proved that starting something can be difficult but worth it.

On Saturday the company made history when they hosted the first-ever Miss Mpumalanga Teen at Casambo Exclusive Guest Lodge.

“We saw a need and realised that many young girls are passionate about beauty pageants but they do not know how to access opportunities that will lead them up there, where they aspire to be,” said one of the organisers, Ms Lebone Mashego.

She added it was upsetting to see young beautiful girls with so much potential attending dangerous street parties and wanted to afford them a chance to live up to their worth.

Although she admitted that much needed to be done to make the event an annual tradition, Lebone regarded the first one as a learning curve and said the province had to brace itself for a bigger and better reloaded event next year.

“This was the first event and though we are not satisfied with how it went, we are happy about the lessons we have learnt and since this is going to be an annual do, it is going to improve substantially,” Mashego added.

She expressed her gratitude towards Casambo for offering the venue to them free of charge.-
“We could do better if many more sponsors can come on board and we are grateful to the Casambo team for their generosity,”

Casambo owner, Ms Carol Sanderson, said that when she heard about the initiative she felt it would be a noble thing to assist and do something to help grow the Miss Mpumalanga Teen brand.

“My husband and I are passionate about supporting budding entrepreneurs and we are pleased to have partnered with them and I know that with proper mentorship, Kedithapelo can take this to greater heights,” said Sanderson.

For the winner of the pageant, Dimpho Nkuna, the crown will open doors for her to motivate other young people about not giving in and to their dreams.

“I’m for positive thinking and I know that with appropriate motivation, youngsters can live positive lives and facilitate change in their communities,” said the excited 17-year-old Uplands learner.
