Four local lads to give their all to make it to the top

The four players will join the rest of the selected hopefuls from the other nine provinces in Johannesburg on January 16.

After months of intense scouting in the SAB regional league that fields over
30 000 players and the highly competitive varsity football tournament, the Castle Lager Football Academy scouts together with Bafana Bafana legends, Neil Tovey and Phil Masinga, selected 45 (semi-finalists) players who could be part of the exclusive academy camp.

The camp will be held this month.

From the 45 identified, four players who made it are from this province and ply their skills in the SAB Regional league teams.

The four players are Bongumusa Mabuza, Happy Mashau, both from 11 Experience FC, as well as Wandile Mabuza and Bafana Dlamini who play for All Blacks FC and Remember City FC respectively.

The main objective of the Castle Lager Football Academy is to discover young talented players with the potential to be fast-tracked and be signed by PSL and the NFD teams, and could in the future represent South Africa in the senior men’s team (Bafana Bafana).

The four players will join the rest of the selected hopefuls from the other nine provinces in Johannesburg on January 16.

They will have three days to impress Bafana Bafana legends, Tovey and Masinga with the hope of making the 23 players
who will continue with the camp till the
February 2.

The 23 who make the cut will then play friendly matches with PSL and NFD teams. They will once again be looking to catch the eye of coaches and scouts from the PSL and NFD clubs.

Speaking to these four players, they all voiced their excitement about making it to the semi-finals stage.
