Christmas comes early to Siyanakekela

KANYAMAZANE – Santa Claus remembered the Siyanakekela Stimulation Centre just before Christmas this year, and they were filled with smiles and tears of joy.

The centre experienced generosity from the SABC, Ligwalagwala FM, in partnership with the Department of Social Development and other sponsors last Thursday. “Words would fall short of explaining our gratitude, the help came at the time when we needed it most.

Taking care of 18 disabled children is not easy, it’s twice as hard when you do it in one room. We are really happy about this act of kindness,” said Ms Thembi Sibeko, secretary of Siyanakekela Stimulation Centre.

The centre is operating in an unconducive rental space, which the owner offered after realising the dire need for space. “We have been operating here for long and we want to thank MEGA for jumping on board to offer us free land to build our own property.

It was becoming harder by the day, especially with the fact that we have to use one toilet with the tenants in this place.

It gives us great pleasure to know that all that is soon to change,” she added. Although the Department of Social Development was set to give out a lump sum of R100 000, they have canned the cash due to the centre not meeting the necessary requirements to acquire the money.
