Another life lost to mob justice

The victim was attacked by members of the community after trying to steal from a certain house in the early hours of Saturday.

NEWSCOM – A man estimated to have been in his early 20s lost his life when he was brutally assaulted by furious community members.
It’s alleged that the victim was attacked by the community members after trying to steal from a certain house in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Mpumalanga News learnt that, as soon as he gained entry to the house, the alarm went off causing furious residents to assault him with stones and sticks.

The spokesperson for the local police, Capt Shelly Ngomane, confirmed the incident. “When we arrived on the scene, we didn’t find anyone, only the lifeless body of the man lying on the ground, but it was clear that he had been beaten by community members. We’d like to warn people not to take the law into their own hands. They must allow justice to take its course,” said Ngomane.

This publication has noted that mob justice started surfacing in this region earlier this year in Nkomazi and has since spread to Pienaar and outlying areas and is seemingly getting out of hand.
