The ANC is continuing to take blows from the opposition parties at national, provincial and local level.

We are facing very tough and torrid times ahead when it comes to politics in this country.

Numsa was expelled from Cosatu on Friday after a very long feud and public spats among their leaders.

But this expulsion does not mean the death of Numsa, it spells a posibility of the emergence of her another opposition political party from within the ranks of the ANC within two years after the birth of Julius Malema’s EFF.

The secretary general of Numsa, Irvin Jim, a well known figure within the ranks of the trade union movement, is in favour of a certain faction within the ANC. The expulsion is likely to shift ANC support even further.

This also spells a blow to the ANC’s campaign in the forthcoming local government elections in 2016.

The ANC is continuing to take blows from the opposition parties at national, provincial and local level.

At times one wonders if some of the service delivery protests are not perpetrated by them as we always blame it on factionalism within the ruling party.

But my other biggest concern is Mbombela Local Municipality where it seems there is continued irregular expenditure and less service delivery.

The opposition is enjoying itself in exposing anomalies recently of expenditure on furniture at the mayor’s residence when the former mayor’s hasn’t been taken to book about it.

Personally we’ve got a problem in that we are not informed about service delivery initiatives in order to report on them as is the norm with all government institutions which are supposed to be accountable to the communities through us, too.

We recently heard of the purchase of service delivery vehicles, which is good, but what about the rest?

There is also continued confrontation between the acting municipal manager and some employees, who, on occasion, cordoned off entry into the institution until they demanded that their concerns were addressed.

Our challenge to them is, if we as the media were of assistance in the past for your institution, what has changed now?

The people need to know your plans and when you plan to deliver services.
