Tributes pour in for Senzo Meyiwa

According to reports, Meyiwa was gunned down while visiting Kelly Khumalo at her Voslorus home.

MBOMBELA – In the wake of Monday morning social media has been abuzz with the sad news of Orlando Pirates goal keeper and captain, Senzo Meyiwa.

According to reports, Meyiwa was gunned down while visiting Kelly Khumalo at her Voslorus home. Details are vague at the moment but it has been confirmed that he died at the scene from a gunshot wound.

“This is a sad loss,whichever way you look at it. To Senzo’s family, especially his children, to Orlando Pirates and to the nation as a whole,” commented the club chairman, Mr Irvin Khoza in a statement issued by the club on their Facebook page.

“Whether you are a soccer fanatic or not, Kelly Khumalo drew us closer to the attention of Senzo. May his soul rest in peace,” Boniswa Somana.

“As my mother said to me, that if we are all going to Durban, some will use a taxi, some a bus, some a plane, some will walk and so on… but the only thing that we have to know, is that we are all going to end up in Durban.RIP Senzo Meyiwa,” Prince Kagiso Maile.

Meyiwa was in action on Saturday evening at Orlando Stadium when Orlando Pirates beat Ajax 4-1 in the Telkom Knock-out quarter final.
