Awards launched to honour provincial gospel

"It's about time we honoured them on their home turf for excellence and to uplift gospel music provincially ".

MBOMBELA -Local gospel artists flocked to Mbombela Stadium during the official launch of the Mpumalanga Music Gospel Awards last Friday.

This initiative comes after Mgoma, the organisers of the event, realised that it was about time for Mpumalanga gospel artists to receive recognition provincially by honouring them with awards.

Some of their good work was recognised nationally to an extent that they were even nominated for the Crown Gospel Awards in 2013, which included the likes of Mxolisi Mbhethe and Goodman Mgibe, to name but a few.
The public relations officer (PRO), Frank Fakude said,

“Let me first indicate that the man who is behind this idea is a talented and motivated person, Sandile Ngobe. After consultations with artists, promoters, radio personalities and management companies, this initiative is a dream come true for many.
“It’s about time we honoured them on their home turf for excellence and to uplift gospel music provincially.”

He indicated that the awards will be held on December 14. Some of the categories include best song of the year, best gospel producer, best gospel newcomer and best gospel community radio show.

Fakude said those who were interested or wanted to enter the “Mgoma” awards, must make sure they bring good quality music and presentation was very important.
