Aces hungry for a home victory

"We will start winning again and once we have ,there will be no turning back ".

MBOMBELA -Mpumalanga Black Aces are yet to register their first victory at home and they hope to do so when they take on the on-form Ajax Cape Town next Saturday at Mbombela Stadium.

Ajax are currently occupying the second position on the Absa premiership log. Should Aces beat Ajax on Saturday, they will automatically rewrite history by becoming the first premier soccer league (PSL) team to beat the Capetonians this season.

Of six games, Ajax which are mentored by former Orlando Pirates coach, Roger De Sa, have registered four wins and two draws, which amounts to 14 points.

Aces’ record on the other hand is not so impressive and their performance has not been convincing and consistent.

Actually, the home team is fast becoming draw specialists. They have already registered three draws, which are mathematically translated to three points. Had the home team won all these three games, they would have collected nine points and would have been comfortably seated in position three of the log.

They are currently languishing at the bottom of the log in position 13 to be precise, and desperately need to start collecting maximum points to get out of harm’s way.

“We will start winning again and once we have, there will be no turning back. We must be grateful that we are not losing because from the three draws we have managed to collect three points.
But our focus now is to start collecting maximum points to better our log standing,” said Gordon Masondo, Aces’ spokesperson.

There is no doubt that Aces have the best solid defence line in the PSL, but the total opposite to the striking force led by veterans, Collins Mbesuma and Mabhuti Khanyeza.

Masondo believes that Aces will bounce back and will get their footing back and right again.

He further confirmed that the former Kaizer Chiefs defender, Valery Nahayo is now Lizayoni (Aces player) and has been roped in to help strengthen the team’s defence, which is already rock solid.

Nahayo will join the likes of Mbulelo Old John Mabizela, Edwin Gyimah, Mzivukile Tomm and Kwabena Adusei.
Kick-off for this game is at 20:15.
