They dream of success

Local young people showcased their various talents on Saturday at the community hall of the official launch of the Visionary Dreamers Organisation which is aimed at promoting local talent beyond our provincial borders.

It is believed that the launch will play a important role in reducing the number of young people who indulge in alcohol and substance abuse such as nyaope which is identified as one of the dangerous drugs that is destroying the future of the new generation.

Speaking at the launch, local fashion designer and the founder of the organisation, Sibusiso Mahlangu, said,

“We have realised that it’s about time we followed in the footsteps of the youth of 1976. Their blood was shed in order for us to get better education and make all our dreams a reality.

“We are determined to leave a legacy for the future generations.

“Let us not wait for the government to spoon-feed us, we need to unite to speak in one voice and make things happen. We also realise that there are a lot of young people who have talent, but don’t know the right channels to follow.

“We are here to help them and I want to state clearly that we are not only focusing on the young people of this town, but we also want to reach out to other communities or municipalities to make a difference,” he explained.

Mahlangu added that the organisation also planned to give life coaching and teach about morals. “In order for us to become like the youth of 1976, we need to have direction and morals.

“We have classes on Wednesday and Sunday at Kamhola Secondary School where we give learners life coaching and conduct debates on various issues affecting young people because we have to create a generation with open minds.

Very soon we will be establishing a youth forum where young people can raise and discuss their challenges.”

Mpumalanga News learnt that the organisation was established in March this year and has to date touched the lives of many young people, especially those in secondary school.

Some of the groups which received a platform to showcase their talent in the arts, included local traditional groups such as Inyakaza, Mvunge Ye-Africa, Bomake Belutsango and kwaito groups such as Extreme and Mega-Bites.
