MEC visits Karino accident victims in hospital

Following the accident that took place this morning between Karino and Tekwane South,the MEC visited the victims at hospital.

MBOMBELA –  Following the accident that took place this morning between Karino and Tekwane South,the MEC for the department of public works roads and transport,Ms Goodness Nhlengethwa, visited the victims at Rob Ferreira hospital and Mediclinic this afternoon.

The newly appointed MEC was accompanied by Ehlanzeni Executive Mayor, Ms Letta Shongwe and Buscor Executive Chairperson,Ms Norah Fakude-Nkuna.

“We have been saddened by this accident which happened while we were still trying to come to terms with last week’s crash that claimed 10 lives and right now we can only look up to God for comfort,” said the MEC.

The bus which was ferrying learners to school collided head on with a cash in transit truck. About 97 people sustained minor injuries, 16 sustained serious injuries and at least, two fatalities have been reported.

She extended heartfelt condolences to families of the deceased.
Meanwhile,the MEC for the health department,Mr Gillion Mashego has said that he learnt with shock about the accident.

“I would like to send my deepest condolences to the bereaved families who lost their loved ones. I wish all those who sustained injuries during the accidents a speedy recovery. Our doctors will work around the clock to provide them with the necessary assistance they require,” said Mashego.
