Career expo for Dlamadoda learners

Learners of Dlamadoda Secondary School were entertained by officials of Mfactory when they visited the school for a career exhibition on Saturday.

MADADENI – Learners of Dlamadoda Secondary School were entertained by officials of Mfactory when they visited the school for a career exhibition on Saturday.

The company literally gave back to the disadvantaged school by supplying higher learning materials from the University of Pretoria and Wits University, and gave away USBs with more information from the National Youth Development Agency.

Mr Blessing Mahlalela, founder of Mfactory, says this is the beginning of greater things to come. “We are targeting the whole of Mpumalanga, not shying away from the fact that we have to start somewhere, we want all the schools in the province to see and follow the light,” he said.

Under the slogan, ‘Empowering the youth one step at a time,’ this initiative is sure going to greater heights and according to Mahlalela, they would love to work closely with the department of education in their future endeavours.

“We want to see this initiative growing to the level where all higher institutions of learning, not forgetting the FETs, get involved to lure learners into furthering their studies or starting their own businesses,” he said.

Mr Vusi Mkhatshwa, the school principal, has expressed his excitement and gratitude about this empowerment strategy. “As a school, we are honoured to be the first one regarded for this exhibition and we will take this baton and run with it,” he said.

According to Mahlalela, more schools are yet to be considered for the initiative, especially those whose performance is under 80 per cent.
