Women urged to report cases of domestic violence

A- 40 -year old woman was stabbed to death allegedly by her husband after an argument.

BARBERTON – A- 40 -year old woman was stabbed to death  allegedly by her husband after an argument.
According to the police, a case of murder has been opened at the local police station and the suspect appeared briefly at the Barberton Magistrate court .

This is a second incident to happen within a month, where women were brutally murdered by their husbands.

Not so long ago another woman was also stabbed to death by her boyfriend at Kamadakwa at Mjindini Trust .

These shocking incidents occurred at the same time where the Commission of Gender Equality(CGE) urged women to stand up and report incidents of domestic violence.

It’s allegedly believed that men continue to abuse women, taking advantage of the fact that many victims do not  report cases  related to domestic violence.

Ms Patricia Ledwaba ,a legal adviser at the CGE in the province was quoted saying:

“Women don’t report incidents of abuse .Their partners are taking  advantage of that and intensifying this barbaric act.”
