Young entrepreneur encourages youth to stand up for themselves

He also urged government and private sectors to give young people opportunities to express themselves business wise and empower them for economic growth.

When unpleasant situations happen in a person’s life, they should view them as a stepping stone not as a permanent setback meant to bring them down.

This belief played a significant role in the life of a young entrepreneur who started his own business after he was fired from a job in 2007. Growing up, Lehlohonolo Mogane, the man behind the success of Kamatshika Cleaning Services, knew that he was destined to affect many lives.

“At the back of my mind, I knew that I would never work for any person but create employment for people who would go to bed on empty stomachs due to poverty,” he says.

After his previous employer showed him the door, he decided to continue with his cleaning company that he had already registered with Cipro.

“I started off by selling cleaning chemicals door-to-door and applied for a loan from the National Youth Development Agency (Nyda) to get the capital to start the business I had always dreamt of,” he continues.

Today, Kamatshika has created more than 25 permanent jobs and appoints more unemployed youth on temporary basis when they have big contracts.

Through Seda’s assistance, the company poses professionalism since it has managed to do proper branding, a website and business cards.

The humble self driven Mogane says that what keeps a business standing even in the midst of challenges is best service at all costs.

“If clients know that your business strives to put them first, they will always think of you first when they need service,” he adds.

To the youth who are unemployed and do not know where their next meal will be coming from, he says, “Have a mentality of alleviating poverty. Think out of the box and come up with an exclusive business idea that will cause you to be in demand.”

Moving forward, the company which aims at delivering above expectation, will expand into pest control and waste management.

He also urged government and private sectors to give young people opportunities to express themselves business wise and empower them for economic growth.
