Door-to-door campaign to sensitize the community

ENTOKOZWENI – Local police, together with members of the community policing forum (CPF) recently conducted a door-to-door campaign to sensitize the community, especially the youth about the effects of using Nyaope and other drugs.

“We chose to start with Ntokozweni section because it”s where most of criminal activities associated with the use of drugs comes from,” explained W/O Andries Skwambane spokesperson of Kanyamazane police.

It was also alleged most crimes were committed by young boys who smoke Nyaope and other drugs. The community also pleaded with the police to increase their visibility in the area, especially at night.

Ms Thembi Goodwins, the CPF chairperson in the area, said homes of victims were also visited.”We will refer them to Grip for assistance and next time we will invite other stakeholders to come with us,” she said.

During the visits, members of the public complained about the growing rate of house robberies as well as cable theft which at times leaves the community without electricity.

Members of Red Cross, Treatment Action Campaign and the South African Men section Grroup also attended.
