MBOMBELA- A 45-year-old man and his 33-year-old-girlfriend appeared in the Nelspruit Magistrate Court in connection with possession of traces of cat (drugs), unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition.
Mr Jacobus Delange and his girlfriend Corne Olivier were granted R800 and R500 bail respectively and the matter was postponed to December 10.
The couple’s arrest follows the swift action of police after receiving information about drugs that were kept in a certain house at Crocodile Valley near Mbombela.
“Three shotguns, a 9mm pistol and a large number of ammunition for various firearms were discovered during the search at the couple’s house. Empty cartridges, bullet points, percussion cabs, primers and smokeless propellant for reloading were also found,” explained Lt Col Leonard Hlathi, the Mpumalanga police spokesperson.
“Police also found drugs weighing equipments and about 200 small plastic sachets containing traces of cat to an estimation value of more than R15 000,” he added.
