Mrs Mpumalanga Charity Lowveld aims to give back
Margaret Mogane is an advocate for children’s nutritional health and aims to create access to healthy diets through food parcels.
The first-ever Mrs Mpumalanga Charity Lowveld 2023, Margaret Mogane, wishes to create a platform that will provide healthy food to children and less-privileged households in and around her community of Hazyview.
She is still focused on hosting fun walks and aerobic classes to help locals live a healthy life.
This wife and mother of six said she became Mrs Mpumalanga Charity Lowveld at the right moment, because it aligns with her dreams to uplift her community. She entered the pageant so she could spread her message about young ones’ health.
She is also a paediatric dietician at Mapulaneng Hospital in Bushbuckridge.
“This is a great opportunity, because I am always ready to help people, even outside my occupation as a children’s dietician. I am planning to gather various community members to help me tackle malnutrition in kids.”

She said she felt empowered by her achievements, because she could influence community stakeholders, especially parents, to improve their kids’ diets.
Mogane’s passion for kids was ignited by how they had suffered during the Covid-19 pandemic, especially those who did not receive healthy food.
“A lot of children fell sick due to the lack of vitamins and minerals they did not get from their diet, whether they live in a wealthy or disadvantaged home. Malnutrition does not only affect the weight of the child, but also the development of their brain and other essential parts of the body. I want to offer knowledge to parents on how to prepare meals for their kids. It starts with the parents, because children consume what their parents consume.”

Mogane said she wants to reach her goals in 2024, which include creating access to healthy and balanced diets through food parcels.
