Suspect arrested with a variety of drugs in Standerton

A provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, said the suspect is expected to appear in court for the second time on August 4.

A 50-year-old foreign national, Emeka Moscow Ani, was remanded in custody following his court appearance. He was arrested for allegedly dealing in drugs.

According to a provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, Ani had appeared in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court on July 28 after he was arrested by the police with various illegal substances of an estimated street value of R15 000.

“He is expected to appear in the same court on August 4. The police report indicates that the Standerton and Ermelo K9 Unit had reacted to information gathered by Standerton’s Crime Intelligence Unit, about a man suspected to be dealing in drugs on July 27 at about 11:30. According to information, the suspect was driving a silver Hyundai Atos in the Standerton CBD,” Mohlala said.

“The police identified the possible suspect, who was found with about 99 sachets of substances suspected to be nyaope, weighing about 72g, two sachets of substances suspected to be crystal meth, weighing about 14g and seven sachets of substances suspected to be methcathinone (CAT) weighing about 18g. The male suspect was arrested and the recovered substances as well as his vehicle were confiscated for further investigation.”
The SAPS are working in collaboration with the Department of Home Affairs to ascertain the suspect’s status in South Africa.
