KaBokweni Hip-Hop artist sets the stage to inspire youngsters

Don Pressure said the Hip-Hop session aims to give Hip-Hop upcoming artists the opportunity to showcase their talents and remove the youth from the streets.

The hip-hop artist and radio presenter, Prince Nhlakanipho Khoza, known as ‘Don Pressure’, is preparing the stage for upcoming artists to get the exposure they need.

He is planning to host a music networking session titled ‘Boss Level Hip-Hop’ at HA Classic Lounge on June 10.
According to Khoza, the initiative aims to create a platform for young people who love and are interested in hip-hop music.
Every artist around the province is welcome to come and showcase their talent, free of charge.

This will not only give exposure for upcoming hip-hop artists, but will also keep young people off the streets and bring change in the community, he said.

Registrations for those who wish to be part of the performances are still open.

”We have identified that as much as this genre is internationally recognised, artists on the ground level in our area do not benefit from it. We have noticed that since people do not know the upcoming artists in our area, they listen to the international artists while we have locals who are doing great job. Boss Level comes to create an awareness and a space for artists to network and collaborate with other local artists. This session will create visibility for the local artists and put them in a better position in terms of bookings for gigs and getting recognition for potential record labels,” Khoza said.

”Apart from performances on the Boss Level Hip-Hop Sessions stage, we also have an initiative called ‘The Boss Level Mixtapes’. This is a series of compilation albums that feature strictly local hip-hop artists.”

The initiative has managed to release its first edition of mixtapes, which featured local artists around Nsikazi. It was released on May 11.
”The objective is to create a familiarity between the music and the faces. We want people to be familiar with the music through the albums, gain experience and meet the faces live on stage. I believe that as young people, it is important to pay attention to what other young people are doing to improve ourselves and others.”
