The aim of the visit was to address the challenges experienced in ECDs. This was also to encourage centres to be part of the ongoing roadshow to take stock of the progress and improvements, which includes the function shift of early childhood development from the Department of Social Development to the Department of Education in April 2022.

According to Majuba, the department is working around the clock, collaborating with all stakeholders to improve the delivery of programmes and services within the province.

Majuba promised to institute a well-developed programme to ensure that the support received by the centres is equal to the support provided to mainstream schools.
