Another body discovered in Inyaka Dam

The body was found covered with a sack and decomposed beyond recognition.

Another body, already putrefying, was found in the Inyaka Dam on Sunday, April 30.

A provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, said the police were alerted by community members who were collecting firewood near the dam. Bushbuckridge fire and rescue teams were summoned to retrieve it.

“The body was covered with a sack and was decomposed beyond recognition. We cannot even tell if it’s a woman or a man, but forensics will be able to determine the gender,”Mohlala said.

He called on community members who have missing family members to come forward for DNA testing.

“At this stage, the only way to identify the body is with such a test, which the state will provide free of charge to those who have a missing family member. Only close family members are preferred for the test,” Mohlala said.

Previously, the badly bruised body of Tebogo Mashego (33), who was thought to be murdered, was recently found next to the dam and was identified by his family.
