He scooped the award for the best teacher in secondary schools during the Mpumalanga instalment of the national teaching awards.
Silaule said he has published four study guides for Grades 11 and 12, and he is currently working on a Grade 10 guide that he plans to publish next year.

This 30-year-old educator said these guides are are hisd tribute to his community in KaBokweni.
Silaule said his motivation started with the love he has for poetry. “I used to write poetry because I have always wanted to publish poetry books, but not for academics. But during the pandemic, while preparing summary notes for my learners, I realised how helpful these notes can be to learners, not only mine but to other provinces, too,” he said.

“I started to do my research and use the lockdown to sit, compile and write every day until I got my first book. I distribute my books myself thus far. I am still working on trying to get the department to adapt to my books. My guides provide a teacher support section in which I provide informal tests, spreadsheets and worksheets.”

Silaule said he decided to work with one of his former learners on this book because he knew the talent he had. “I worked with Israel Ngobe from my previous school, who designed the cover for my book.”

Silaule has formed relations with schools so that he can assist in academics. “There are schools in KwaZulu-Natal Mpumalanga, Limpopo and the Eastern Cape to which I distribute books and work with in my programme, with which I supply them with topic tests and PowerPoint presentations.”
Silaule’s dream is to leave a legacy of excellence in the education system and help many students. Contact him on
