Phola Secondary School recognised for improved matric results
The school received a trophy for achieving a 93.3% pass rate, an improvement from 40.4%.
From a Grade 12 pass rate of 40.4% in 2021 to 93.3% for the Class of 2022, Phola Secondary School was the most improved school in the White Hazy 2 Circuit near Hazyview.
A patron of the Phola Secondary School, Bp Dr Gadi Manzini, handed over a trophy to the school in recognition of the great improvement of Grade 12 results on Friday February 24.
“The Class of 2022 has made us very proud. Applause to the management of the school, teachers and the learners. As guardian assigned to the school, it makes me honoured to be part of a school that shows improvement,” Manzini said.
He hopes this milestone will motivate the Class of 2023 and the educators to work even harder to obtain a 100% pass rate.

Phola Secondary School’s principal, Nhlanhla Maduna, said it was a great motivation to receive the trophy.
“We appreciate the recognition, because out work is about changing the lives of our learners and the Phola community at large,” Maduna said.
The school management has set long-term goals to achieve a high rate of Grade 12 results.

“We are aiming for a 100% pass rate this year. We have programmes in place to improve the learning and teaching processes. These programmes include morning and afternoon classes, and assessments to evaluate each learner,” he said.
Maduna and the school’s chairperson, Rasheed Matola, accepted the trophy.
