Gert Sibande welcomes new vets

Mpumalanga Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs has welcomed new vets for their annual programme.

The Gert Sibande District recently officially welcomed five new veterinarians as part of its team. The Mpumalanga Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs (Dardlea) said they are on a 12-month- long compulsory community service programme.

Dardlea’s spokesperson, Zanele Shabangu, said, “The programme is aimed at bringing their scares skills closer to our rural communities.

The vets, who are already on the ground, are serving the seven municipalities in the district, rendering services to both pets and livestock, ensuring better animal health.”

“The young and enthusiastic vets were welcomed by our veterinary services team in Ermelo, and taken through an induction that covered HR-related matters, VET legislations, challenges, including experiences and how to manoeuvre around challenges they may come across while performing their duties,” Shabangu said.
