Bafana Bafana reward loyal fans

There is never a dull moment when Bafana Bafana play at Mbombela Stadium.
They always come to the party and impress.
Bafana Bafana ignited on home soil in front of their diehard fans to put on stunning performances during their two friendly international games against Mozambique on Thursday and Angola on Sunday. The last time they played in Mbombela was in 2016 when they were held to a 1-1 draw against Mauritania, and it was no different this past Sunday November 20, as they also played to an all-one draw against Angola.

Bafana Bafana, being a team in construction, opened their friendly encounters against Mozambique and registered a hard earned 2-1 victory.
During this clash with the Mambas, Bafana created numerous opportunities, but only managed to convert two. They had a proper game plan and stuck to it.

They kept the Mambas’ chances to a minimum. It was from the Mamelodi Sundowns man Rushine de Reuck’s mistake that the visitors stole an opener, but apart from that, they did not threaten the Bafana Bafana net minder very much.
It was in the second stanza when the home team exerted much pressure, They threw a series of dangerous balls into the opposition’s box and were rewarded as they got an equaliser and a winning goal later on.
On Sunday, Bafana Bafana overcame a goal down to force a draw at home with tenacious adversary Angola. The home team were not on the same form as they had displayed against the Mambas, and they conceded early, but escaped, luckily through a Zakhele Lepasa penalty, which ended the game in stalemate. Hugo Broos’s men extended their unbeaten run to four matches in a row.

The Mbombela Stadium management’s Roelf Kotze said it was pure joy for them to host the national team.
“The games were excellent to watch, We had missed watching the national team live in the Lowveld. It was an excellent moment post Covid-19, and people enjoyed the games, although the one on Thursday against Mozambique was a bit of a challenge for the people as they had to go to work on Friday, but the turnout at the Sunday game against Angola was not bad. The atmosphere was fantastic, and it was a great honour to watch the top players battle it out since we last saw the national team this side in 2016,” he said.
