Department of Health assesses Sandriver Clinic after storm damage

The MEC for health visited the clinic following the recent heavy storm that caused havoc in the Hazyview area and surrounds.

As part of monitoring healthcare facilities affected by a storm that hit Hazyview and surrounding areas, the MEC for health, Sasekani Manzini, visited Sandriver Clinic on Monday November 21. The clinic is in an area known as Kamajika.

According to the Department of Health, this visit was intended to monitor damage assessment intervention after the clinic was affected by a rainstorm on Friday November 18.

The department said the clinic had fortunately been closed at the time, because it is an eight-hour clinic, and no one was injured.

The department’s spokesperson, Dumisani Malamule, said, “The storm blew part of the roof off and there was minor damage. The infrastructure structure team fixed it on Saturday November 19. Water poured inside, but there was no serious damage inside.”

Manzini said she was pleased with the swift intervention by the infrastructure team, and that the clinic was operating normally.
