Buscor pays homage to Covid-19 victims in Mbombela

Dr Nora Fakude-Nkuna pays respect to the victims of Covid-19 during the Buscor Family Day at Mbombela Stadium.

Buscor’s boss, Dr Nora Fakude-Nkuna, has paid homage to the company employees who had succumbed to Covid-19.

She said her company, Buscor, owes a big deal to each and everyone of them.

“We are coming from a very painful period when we were attacked by Covid-19, which caught all of us off guard. We have lost some of our members at Buscor, and today we would like to take this moment and officially pay our respects to them,” said Fakude-Nkuna.

She was speaking at the Buscor Family Day at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday.

“We were not able to meet like this as a family because of Covid-19. I am happy that we can come together in this fashion once again and celebrate as one. The last time we held this family day was in 2018,” she said.

Fakude-Nkuna used this time to address Buscor employees for the first time since they were prevented from operating by local taxi associations.

She assured the staff that she would never act in a way that would bring the company’s name into disrepute or misrepresent the Buscor family.

“According to our knowledge, there is absolutely nothing that we did wrong to anyone, but our buses were damaged and burnt. Our depots were all shut down and could not operate.

“Furthermore, there were things said about me in particular on social media, and I want to assure you that all those things were not true. They were created or designed to make me look bad, but I am happy that all of you within the Buscor family know that I would never say such things.

Buscor was also pleased and took comfort in the community’s responses and comments on social media platforms in which they stood in solidarity with the company.
