Satmas to take place at Mbombela Stadium

The Satmas is the only project that honours, recognises, appreciates and encourages the efforts and lifestyles of traditional musicians, poets and artists in South Africa.

All roads lead to this city this weekend as the 2022 South African Traditional Music Awards’ (Satmas) main event will take place at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday October 1.

This prestigious event will be attended by the who’s who of Mzansi, including a special appearance by Plo Lumumba and Zozibini Tunzi (Miss Universe 2019).

The MCs will be Lesley Mosina and Kajal Maharaj, and on the red carpet the MC will be Tsholofelo Maseko.
The event will feature performances by Ntaba Yase Dubai, Nathi Mankayi, Lebo Sekgobela, Nomcembo Zikobe, Zama Khumalo, Cevuzile, Lucky Dube’s band and many more. There will be comedians such as Mdu Ntuli and DJ MK King Mkhonto.

In the list of events planned for the Satmas on Saturday morning, there will be a memorial lecture of Lucky Dube at 10:00 at the Mpumalanga University, by Prof Patrick Loch Otieno Lumumba.

The Satmas is the only project that honours, recognises, appreciates and encourages the efforts and lifestyles of traditional musicians, poets and artists in South Africa.
The awards will hand over an appreciation certificate to the Mpumalanga Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation and welcome the new partners who will host the next event.
