EFF in Mpumalanga appeals for calm and tolerance as taxi associations clash with Buscor

Thousands of commuters were once again left stranded as taxi operators prevented Buscor buses from operating.

Following the ongoing Ehlanzeni taxi associations and Buscor disputes, the EFF in Mpumalanga has called for calm, tolerance and peace between the parties.

The EFF’s provincial chairperson, Collen Sedibe, said his party has noted with great concern the ongoing disputes which has left thousands of commuters without any means of transportation to their various destinations and workplaces.

“The EFF would like to plead and urge both parties involved [taxi associations and Buscor] to find common ground and co-exist for the benefit of all the people of Mpumalanga, and the Ehlanzeni District in particular, who are being hit the hardest.

“To avoid further damage to property, loss of life and jobs, we, the EFF, believe that a dialogue between all the parties involved is key to finding lasting solutions that would be beneficial to everyone involved,” said Sedibe.

He called on the Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport to come to the party.

“Furthermore, we would like to implore the department to act as a mediator to prevent a similar scenario as the one in Cape Town earlier this year involving Golden Arrow buses and taxi associations, when uncontrollable violence was the order of the day,” said Sedibe.
