White Hazy Circuit receives state-of -the-art school

The new school structure is intended to eliminate overcrowding in the area, and to be a hub and centre of development.

It was a glorious day all round for villagers and learners during the launch of the newly developed state-of-the-art Shabalala Secondary School on Tuesday August 2.

It was a display of unity and partnership as the Mpumalanga Department of Education in collaboration with the City of Mbombela as well as the Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport, honoured the community with the new school in the White Hazy Circuit.

The school consists of 26 classrooms, an admin block, reception area, classrooms, school hall, media centre, toilets, a science laboratory and a library. It benefits 1205 learners from grades 8 to 11 with 36 teachers.

In line with the values of the Rhandza Xikolo Xa Wena campaign, a call has been made for the community to protect and take good care of the school to benefit future generations.

The executive mayor of the City of Mbombela Local Municipality, Cllr Sibongile Makushe and MEC for public works, roads and transport, Mohita Latchminarain, Nkambeni Traditional Authority as well as the member of parliament, Desmond Moela graced the occasion.

The launch also saw the awarding of two top sport achievers for flying the provincial and national flags. The two learners where bestowed with tokens of appreciation. Winnie Makarinke represented the province at the National Netball Championship while Vusi Sambo represented the province in the National Soccer Championships.

The certificates of appreciation were handed over by Latchminarain on behalf of the MEC for education, Bonakele Majuba. She also passed on Majuba’s congratulatory message to the learners.
