MEC Busi Shiba reminds delegates of the importance of agriculture

Various stakeholders met for three days.

MEC of the Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs, Busi Shiba, said agriculture should be in the forefront to fight poverty and ensure food security for all.

This was during the Comprehensive Agricultural Support Programme (CASP)/ ilima Letsema annual quarter review meeting held at Nutting House Lodge. The meeting started on June 8 and ended on Friday June 10.

Shiba was addressing the delegates who attended this meeting; they were from all agricultural departments in the province.

“The department has strived to deliver on projects and programmes beyond the many challenges that the country is facing. In the last financial year the farming communities were supported on key priorities of CASP grant contributions as approved in the business plans for infrastructure development.”

On the last day Shiba said, “The National Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, the National Assessment Panel, National Treasury and other role players, I appreciate the support and guidance that the department has continued to receive from the partnerships that we have.”
