The DA refuses to work with the ANC

This was a stern message by the DA’s provincial leader, Jane Sithole, whose organisation also performed well in the local government elections.

The DA has taken a number of wards away from the ANC for the first time in Govan Mbeki and Steve Tshwete local municipalities.

It has also taken a number of voting districts from the ANC for the first time in municipalities like Thembisile Hani, Thaba Chweu, Mbombela and Govan Mbeki.

“The DA took a national stance that it will not enter into any coalition negotiations with the ANC. Our view is that we can’t spend time and resources fighting corruption, and to turn and endorse corruption by working with the ANC,” said Sithole. She said due to the hard work they have put in, as well as the trust and support they have received across Mpumalanga, the ANC has dipped below 50% in municipalities such as Steve Tswete, Govan Mbeki and Lekwa.

“Our hard work and the support we received made it possible for us to force the ANC to dip below 50% in Lekwa, Steve Tshwete and Govan Mbeki.

“We would like to reiterate our gratitude to the people of Mpumalanga for putting their trust in the DA, a party that gets things done and does what it says it will do. The recent political landscape around the country has shown that it is important for South Africa to build a moderate, non-racial society, and that the DA is the only party that can do so successfully,” Sithole said.
